Gears of War Movie Gets Funding

The feature film adaptation of Epic's cover-heavy action series Gears of War has gained the financial support of Legendary Pictures, Variety has revealed.

Legendary will now co-finance and co-produce the project alongside New Line Cinema, which secured the rights for the adaptation in 2007. It marks the latest game-related project for Legendary, which is also involved with Blizzard's Warcraft and Diablo flicks.

Helmed by Live Free or Die Hard director Len Wiseman, the movie is now using a script drafted by Chris Morgan, instead of Stuart Beattle's original version. Gears of War lead designer Cliff Bleszinski is serving as both executive producer and consulta...

Puzzle Quest: Galactrix Preview: D3 Reveals Delay, Talks Complexity and Possible Other Versions

I am fairly confident that with Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (PC, 360, DS) developer Infinite Interactive is beginning the second phase of its master plan to destroy the world.

The sequel--now slated to debut early next year instead of the original fall 2008 date--looks to expand on all of that. Sure, the fantasy elements have been replaced by a sleek sci-fi aesthetic, the orbs are now hexagons, and now you have to worry about gravity d...

Peggle Heads to DS via Rez, Lumines Dev. Q

Casual games publisher PopCap has announced that its beloved bouncing ball simulator Peggle will arrive on Nintendo DS this winter, with the game's development being handled by acclaimed Japanese studio Q Entertainment (Rez, Lumines, Meteos).

The DS edition is expected to carry a $29.95 price point, more levels than any past Peggle game, "features unique to the DS version," and what PopCap referred to as "a wealth of surprise additions sure to please die-hard fans and novice players alike."

Already released on PC, Mac and iPod, the Pachinko-esque offerings of Peggle, which require players to eliminate colored pegs, have won over many a cold-h...

Wheelman Delayed Until Next Year

Midway has delayed the release of its open-world Vin Diesel-starring driving-action game Wheelman (PC, PS3, 360) until the first quarter of 2009, reports Kotaku.

The oft-postponed game, once due in 2007 and then expected sometime this year, was apparently pushed to provide Midway Studios Newcastle more development time, and hopefully, result in a better product.
