Several anticipated Xbox Live Arcade titles will be hitting the Xbox 360's downloadable gaming service this coming August, Microsoft announced today.
Following the release of Bizarre Creations' multi-directional shooter Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 this Wednesday, the month of August will see the debut of:
Shacknews has confirmed that Xbox Live Silver members are now able to play some Xbox 360 games online, a feature once reserved for paying Gold subscribers.
Currently, only three titles allow free online play: Universe at War, Shadowrun and Lost Planet: Colonies Edition. Other games, such as Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War, still require an Xbox Live Gold subscription for online multiplayer.
It is believed the shift came about as a result of Microsoft's decision to provide all Games for Windows Live members with free online multiplayer, as all three free-to-play Xbox 360 titles allow cross-platform multiplayer with PC gamers. ...
Update: Gearbox Software has confirmed to Shacknews that Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway (PC, PS3, 360) has indeed been delayed until September.
"We'll be gold in August, but it looks like the actual shelf date will be in September," Gearbox president Randy Pitchford told Shacknews.
Though an exact date is still undecided, he noted that "late September is the anniversary of Operation Market Garden, so I think it would be really poetic if the game launched on the anniversary."
