Nintendo and 54 developers and publishers have filed suit in the Tokyo District Court to block the marketing, sales and importation of DS flash cart devices, which allow users to easily load pirated DS software onto flash media for play in Nintendo's handheld.
The devices—such as the R4 Revolution for DS and CycloDS Evolution, among others—are similar in form to standard Nintendo DS cartridges, while featuring a small slot for MicroSD cards which can be loaded with pirated DS games, homebrew software, utilities and other data.
In a statement reproduced by Kotaku, Nintendo said that the devices are "causing severe damage to our company and software makers, and this is something that we cannot possibly overlook."
The company added that the devices cause harm to the growth of the game industry as a whole, and that steps must be taken regarding the legality of flash car...
With Valve's wit-driven action-puzzler Portal hitting Xbox Live Arcade this fall, marketing VP Doug Lombardi has expressed interest in releasing more of the studio's catalog, which includes shooters Half-Life and Counter-Strike, as Xbox 360 downloads.
"We'll certainly consider [bringing old games like Counter-Strike to XBLA]," Lombardi told OXM UK. "If you look at what we've done on Steam, we try to make all our games available and we're always reviewing the prices to keep them current. We'd love to do that, but this is our first step at doing that beyond the PC."
When asked about a possible console release of the Team Fortress 2 add-ons that PC gamers have been receiving for free, such as new maps and weapons, Lombardi stated that the company was still discussing the specifics of pricing. ...

Sony Computer Entertainment has now sold over 14.41 million PlayStation 3 units worldwide since it launched in 2006, according to financial documents released today.
The company sold 1.56 million PS3 consoles during the first quarter of its 2008 fiscal year, which ran from April 1 to June 30. At the end of Sony's 2007 fiscal year, over 12.85 million PS3 units had been sold worldwide.
As of March, Nintendo's Wii had sold 24.45 million units worldwide while Microsoft's Xbox 360 had moved 19 million. Both companies have yet to provide updated figures.
